Beach Badge Checking Frequently Asked Questions

What is the hiring process to become a Surf City beach badge checker?
You must fill out an application that you may pick up at the Borough or here and submit it to the borough.  You will then be interviewed by the Supervisor.  Contact Leticia (609-494-3064) at the Borough for additional information such as interview times and dates.

How many days a week will I be working and what are the hours?
You will be working 6 days a week from the hours of 9:30AM to 4:30AM.  You will be "clocked in" for 6-1/2 hours per day times 6 days per week for a total of 39 hours per week.

What is the pay?
Starting pay for beach badge checkers for the 2002 season was $6.75/hour.

Will I have to buy a uniform?
No, you will be supplied with a uniform at no cost to you.

Where will I be working?
In general your daily assignment will vary but you will most likely be walking the beach or stationed at a beach entrance.  It is possible that you will also be at the boat ramp or bay beach bathing area occasionally.
